Johan Gordts elected new Chairman of ASSA-i
During its General Assembly in June 2020, the ASSA-i Members elected Johan Gordts as their new Chairman, who will lead the Association through challenging times, which also holds opportunities for professional Private Security Services Providers.
In his position of Vice President Business Development for the European aviation segment of the Securitas Group, Johan is well placed to identify these challenges and opportunities and feed the debate at both the EU and International level. With his long experience in aviation from 1979 to 1993 in various positions in Belgium, Spain and Germany, and in the security industry since then, he will steer the Association into a new and even more pro-active period.
ASSA-i is an active contributor to the EU DG MOVE’s expert group SAGAS and is also engaged in the wise person’s group on the future of Aviation Security Strategy. At international level, ASSA-i participates in IATA’s work on Innovation in Security and in the ICAO Security Panel. This is therefore a time where ASSA-i’s Members and Board can use all their knowledge and experience to write a new chapter in the Aviation Security’s History.
The Vice Chairman, Oren Sapir, President and CEO of ICTS Europe, is keen to continue to support the Chairmn and take the Association to the new level. Johan succeeds to Marc Pissens, who is stepping down from his post of President of Securitas Aviation Transport Services after 35 years in the private security business. The Board of Directors paid tribute to the high level of commitment that Marc has shown since the Association’s inception in 2002, ensuring him that they would carry on his legacy, speaking for Aviation Security Services that meet the values of safety, compliance, quality and trust. They thanked him and designated him President of Honour of ASSA-i. //end of text
