3 amusing figures about air transport

One seventh of the whole world population travelled by air in 2015 in EU 28 alone (just under 1 billion people). And over half of the whole world population 3.7 billion passengers will have travelled by air in 2017 (IATA).

Every day a worth of USD18.6 billion (€16 billion) in goods travel by air (IATA) – the exact same number that Qatar Airways paid for ordering 100 Boeing planes. Europe represents about 23% of the whole airfreight market (IATA).

In Europe, every year 14.6 million Tons travel by air (Eurostat). This is 1,500 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower, or 40 times the weight of the Empire State Building.
